A message from the Artistic Director
With the advent of MP3 players and iPods, music has never been more readily accessible. Unfortunately, this technology has also isolated the listener from the musician and from each other.
The ERS was founded by Edmonton musicians and music enthusiasts wanting to present concerts of outstanding quality while encouraging a sense of community for musicians and audience alike. This sense of community has been especially evident in our first two seasons which feature musicians, most of whom have ties to Edmonton. Artists residing here such as Tanya Prochazka and Nora Bumanis are featured alongside artists returning home such as James Campbell, featured in our Gala Concert.
Our mandate also includes working with other local arts organizations as well as featuring young up-and-coming artists. We are pleased to be presenting emerging artists such as Andrew Wan, Anthony Flynn and Michelle Nelin-Yam in cooperation once again with our friends from Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
We believe that music is meant to be enjoyed by everyone. Therefore, our concerts have been priced extremely reasonably, with special attention given to students who can purchase rush tickets at $10. However, to continue presenting these world-class concerts at affordable prices, we rely heavily on the generosity of you, our patrons. To find out how you can support the ERS in continuing in this mandate, see Support Us.
We look forward to seeing you for another exciting and innovative year of music making.
