Aaron Au, President and Founder of the Edmonton Recital Society, has bravely passed the baton of Artistic Director to me after five successful seasons of exceptional music making and contribution to the cultural life of our city of Edmonton. I am delighted, as the new Artistic Director, to welcome you all on behalf of the Board and the musicians of the Edmonton Recital Society to our sixth season of recitals. In the years to come I will maintain with enthusiasm our mandate’s five core values: artistic excellence, promoting artists with connections to Edmonton, providing a venue for young up-and-coming musicians, cooperation with other organizations and audience accessibility.
The new season will continue to inspire and excite you with outstanding performances by our artists of international stature. Among these artists are Angela Cheng, Amanda Forsyth and Andrew Wan, three of Edmonton’s own. We will be introducing two extraordinary new talents, cellist Dongkyun An and trumpeter Robin Doyon. With generous and continuing support from you our audience, subscribers and donors, we are able to provide this unique concert series, which showcases artists in their capacities as soloists in recital. We are the only music society in Edmonton that provides this type of intimate and rewarding concert experience as a full concert series.
Our concerts will continue to be in Muttart Hall (Grant Macewan Alberta College Conservatory) and Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Old Strathcona. Our main series ticket prices will remain unchanged at $30 and $20 for seniors and students with $10 student rush tickets available. We will also foster and encourage concert attendance by our youngest Edmonton music students.
With best wishes for a wonderful musical feast,
Tanya Prochazka, incoming Artistic Director, ERS
